USA vs Wales: How to watch live, stream link, team news, projected starting XIThe USA and Wales clash in what seems to be a crucial Group B opener at the World Cup in Qatar. STREAM LIVE USMNT vs WALESGregg Berhalter’s young side are at their first World Cup since 2014 and there are big things expected of Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna and Co. in Qatar. After a bumpy qualifying cycle in CONCACAF, there are still plenty of doubts around this team and Berhalter but a big World Cup this time will set things up nicely for the 2026 World Cup on home soil.

Gregg Berhalter's side opens its Group B campaign against Wales at 2 p. m. ET. Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie lead one of the youngest teams in the tournament into what could be one of the most difficult groups to navigate in Qatar. All four of the sides drawn into Group B are ranked inside the top 20 in the FIFA men's soccer world rankings.
That left 19-year-old Ricardo Pepi at home, as well as Jordan Pefok. Ferreira, Sargent and Wright have 13 international goals between them. Ferreira and Sargent are likely the top options to start against Wales. Wright, who was a surprise inclusion in the squad, could come off the bench. The chance creation is expected to be there from Pulisic and a list of talented midfielders that are plying their trade in the top European leagues. Gio Reyna, Brenden Aaronson and Tim Weah are the candidates to start in midfield along with Pulisic, McKennie, Tyler Adams and Yunus Musah. Ferreira and Sargent have had their struggles throughout World Cup qualifying with finishing the significant chances and getting involved in the game from the striker position. The hope is that one of the forwards takes his role by storm and gets hot over the next few weeks in Qatar. If not, one of the attacking midfielders, likely Pulisic, will have to step up and find the back of the net.
Wales will end a much longer World Cup drought when it takes the field on Monday. The Welsh have not participated in a World Cup since their quarterfinal run in 1958. Gareth Bale is the main attraction on the Welsh roster, but he is far from the only important piece in the squad. Wales must remain organized in defense and get a few big plays from the non-Bale players to counter the USMNT's firepower in midfield. Pulisic, McKennie and Tyler Adams lead a star-studded American midfield, but the USMNT is still without a consistent goal-scorer. That could either turn into its biggest strength, or be its downfall in Qatar.
Veteran Tim Ream could start at center back to provide experience, while the midfield trio of Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Yunus Musah are locked in as the main men in midfield. Ahead of them Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Brenden Aaronson and Tim Weah are all battling for a starting spot in attacking midfield but there is no clear winner to start as the No. 9, so perhaps the USMNT will start with a false nine? In terms of injuries, Sergino Dest, Matt Turner and Weston McKennie have all been training after brushing off recent injuries. However, Gregg Berhalter said that both Dest and McKennie are unlikely to play the full 90 minutes and said they aren’t fully fit for the opener against Wales. It has also been announced that Tyler Adams has been named captain of the USMNT for the tournament.
That will only increase the pressure on the likes of Christian Pulisic, Giovanni Reyna and Brenden Aaronson to sustain a decent attacking output as they are the stand-out members of Gregg Berhalter’s squad. As for Wales, Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey carry most of the load when it comes to the hopes of the people of Wales. Meanwhile, fellow veteran Joe Allen is an injury doubt heading into the opener. Despite struggling to make a consistent impact in LAFC’s MLS Cup-winning campaign, Bale has still shown at international level that he is capable of the sublime. This World Cup provides the perfect opportunity for the youngsters in the squad, most notably Brennan Johnson, to prove that they can take over the mantle from Bale and Ramsey. The lowdown: USA vs WalesThe second Group B clash will draw a close to proceedings on the second day of the 2022 World Cup. USA and Wales will do battle at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Ar-Rayyan with the game kicking off at 19. 00 GMT (14. 00 EST) and 22. 00 local time. UK viewers will be able to watch the game on ITV while FOX and Telemundo will be showing it in the US. Team newsThe USMNT’s strength in depth defensively will be put to the test in Qatar as both Chris Richards and Miles Robinson have been forced to miss the World Cup with injuries.
Wales (3-4-3): Ward, Cabango, Rodon, Davies; Roberts, Morrell, Ramsey, Williams; James, Bale, Johnson. What’s at stake? Given the close proximity of the four teams in Group B, the battle for qualification is perhaps the closest of all the World Cup groups. With England expected to strike the first blow against Iran, it should open a path for Wales or USA to take advantage with an opening-game victory.

Wales needs its other attacking players to produce strong performances on Monday to show that its attack can be multi-dimensional and take it to the knockout round. Fulham's Daniel James, Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson and Bournemouth's Kieffer Moore will all shoulder attacking responsibilities at some point in the tournament. At least one member of that trio needs to step up in the group stage for Wales to have a chance of beating out the USMNT and Iran for a spot that most people believe will partner England to the knockout round.
